The season of road trips is upon us, and the 2025 Toyota Sienna Platinum minivan makes a strong case to haul your precious cargo.
This minivan blends space, efficiency, and family-focused features better than many three-row SUVs. Among its newest perks are a built-in refrigerator and vacuum cleaner—standard on the Platinum trim—which bring added convenience for long drives and daily life.
Desirable Features, But Not Perfect
The fridge and vacuum are two of the most talked-about upgrades for 2025. While we couldn’t test the vacuum (its hose was missing upon delivery), the components appear thoughtfully integrated, positioned just ahead of the second-row seats for better usability. We do wish the hose had a storage spot closer to the power unit rather than in the cargo area.
The fridge is more straightforward—it’s easily accessible in the center console and can hold six standard cans. In our informal test, it cooled beverages from room temperature to a crisp 55°F in just over two hours.
It’s Built Better!
The 2025 update brings a noticeably improved infotainment system. The display, while not the largest, is clear and responsive. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and top trims gain a new digital instrument cluster with customizable views.
Toyota has also enhanced interior build quality. Key touch points like air vents and door handles now feel more refined, while dashboard panels are better aligned than in previous models.
Still Super Efficient
Under the hood, the hybrid powertrain remains unchanged—producing 245 hp to the front wheels, with available AWD via an additional rear electric motor. While acceleration isn’t its strong suit (0–60 mph in 8.4 seconds in our test), it makes up for it with class-leading fuel economy: 36 mpg across all cycles for FWD models.
Braking performance is average (134 feet from 60 mph), and some rivals, like the Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival, are quicker and stop shorter. Still, none match the Sienna’s hybrid efficiency, making it ideal for families focused on long-term savings.
Toyota : A Comfortable and Practical Interior
Driving dynamics are solid, with light steering and good visibility. Advanced camera systems assist greatly in tight spots. Ride comfort is a bit compromised by the Platinum’s 20-inch wheels, though lower trims with smaller wheels may offer a smoother experience.
The Platinum comes with second-row captain’s chairs—comfortable and adjustable, but not removable—which slightly limits cargo flexibility. However, the third row folds flat, allowing for up to 75.2 cubic feet of space, or 101.0 cubic feet with the second-row seats tumbled forward. That’s more room than the Grand Highlander offers and reinforces the Sienna’s edge in practicality.
Premium Pricing, Balanced Offerings
At $58,634, the Sienna Platinum is one of the pricier minivans available, exceeding even some luxury-trimmed rivals. While it may not beat the competition in every category, its strong hybrid efficiency, refreshed cabin, and thoughtful features make it a compelling choice—especially if you value low operating costs and high everyday usability. And if you don’t need the fridge or vacuum? The lower trims still offer impressive value with the same great drivetrain and road trip potential.
