Toyota’s Trailblazing Hybrid Celebrates A Quarter Century With Higher Prices

To mark the 25th anniversary of its famous hybrid SUV, Toyota has unveiled a limited edition of the Highlander Hybrid. Named the “25th Anniversary” edition, this high-end version builds on the Limited trim and adds exclusive features: 20-inch silver wheels, Portobello leather upholstery, unique stitching, and “25th Edition” logos embroidered on the seats, door sills, and floor mats.

It also includes an 11-speaker JBL audio system, a 360° panoramic view camera, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ driver assistance technologies. Limited to 2,500 units, this edition will be available starting November 2024, with a price of around $54,130.

A price increase justified by more features

For 2025, Toyota is changing its strategy. The entry-level LE hybrid version is being discontinued, raising the starting price of the Highlander Hybrid to $47,470 — nearly $5,000 more than the previous year.

But this increase comes with justification: from now on, all hybrid models come equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD), which was previously only available on higher trims. This decision responds to growing demand for versatile SUVs that perform well in all weather conditions.

Available trims include:

  • XLE AWD – from $47,470

  • XLE Nightshade – approx. $48,770

  • Limited – approx. $52,225

  • 25th Anniversary Edition – approx. $54,130

  • Platinum – approx. $55,425

The Highlander Hybrid remains a solid choice for families

Even with rising prices, Toyota continues to attract families with a spacious, reliable, fuel-efficient SUV equipped with the latest tech innovations.

The 12.3″ touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, 360° camera, wireless connectivity, and enhanced safety options help the Highlander Hybrid maintain an edge in an increasingly competitive market.

The 2025 Highlander Hybrid is moving upmarket: more features, standard all-wheel drive, and a stylish anniversary edition celebrating 25 years of the model. A higher price, but a more complete SUV — staying true to its DNA: efficiency, comfort, and reliability.
